Healthcare

Our Community Development Projects (CDP) Coordinator Francisco Alvarado works with the San Matías Patronato (Mayor) and the other 15 villages we serve to identify requirements in their villages, and then establish solutions which engage self-help systems and partners with visiting mission teams to assist with the project completion.

Areas of community concern are:

Medical Care: MDM CareTeams that are facilitated through Love Truth Care Ministries our parent organization has for several years had first and second year medical students from Christian Medical Mission of South Alabama, Mobile to do a week of medical brigades where they provide medicine and examine 250 plus patient a day from the 16 villages we serve.

We have also had doctors join a construction team and do a two days of clinic in conjunction with the local government health clinic that is located in the community. Contact us if you are interest in bring or joining a medical outreach team.

Along with Operation New Life our sister organization we try and address surgical needs in Tegucigalpa at Hospital Escuela the government teaching hospital where they bring teams four to six times a year.

Future plans: include continuing to develop way of impacting the medical care available to the communities we serve.

Dental Care: Along with Operation New Life our sister organization we hope to reopen a dental clinic that will serve the communities.

Future plans: provide dental hygiene classes, toothbrushes, and toothpaste.

Nutrition: At the present time our 65 mothers and families that are involved with our Mountain of Blessing Sponsorship/ Afterschool Program receive quarterly food supplement basket them and their families.

Future plans: developing livestock, poultry and crop production projects.

Water: We work with the local water department to repair and maintain the community water system.

Future plans: providing a system of water filtration and purification. As well as a abdicate supply of water year round.

Cement floor: MDM CareTeams that are facilitated through Love Truth Care Ministries, our parent organization bring youth, college and adult/family teams to pour cement floors in the homes of those in our community that are still living on dirt floor. This great reduce the cases of stomach problems from parasites as well as upper respiratory problems. Contact us if you are interest in bring a team to the mountain.
