We send greetings from the MDM Honduras leadership team. We are excited to share some new information with our partners but first, please watch the following message from our MDM president, Dixie Rosales. As you watch this video, please rejoice with us and join us in thanking the Lord for His sweet provisions.
MDM Honduras Leadership Team Update
Honduras is continuing to slowly reopen but there are still some significant restrictions in place. The COVID-19 numbers had been trending downward until early last week and they started creeping up a little however, the government has said that they will not completely close down again. Obviously there are concerns for a “second wave” of infections. At present, the reopening process is at 50% but the government is stressing the importance of being responsible.
On a more positive note, there have been no new COVID-19 cases in San Matias that we are aware of right now. We are very thankful for that. Our tutors are actively working hard to prepare for small groups of students to return to the ministry because the school year will likely be extended into December. They have also been very busy distributing food to the villages. So far, 330 families have received large food bags and they are planning another food distribution this week. We have also been informed that the airport is opened for international travel but there are some very stringent restrictions in place for travel in and out of Honduras.
As we have navigated this crisis, each of you have come alongside us and encouraged us. Even in the midst of a worldwide pandemic, God has shown Himself faithful. We send out a special thanks to all of you for your love, prayers, and generous financial support.
I thank my God in all remembrance of you, always offering prayer with joy in my every prayer for you all, in view of your participation in the gospel from the first day until now.” Phil. 1:3-5
