Short-term mission trips

Your opportunity to work on projects that benefit the local people while sharing the love of Christ with the children and families of San Matías’ surrounding communities

Have you been on a MDM Honduras Mission Trip and want to go again?

MDM short-term mission trips take place several times throughout the year.

Trips may last a week or longer. We welcome groups of a variety of sizes.

Mission Teams work on a range of projects, including:

New home construction

Public school improvement projects

Gospel outreach

Medical or dental clinic outreach

Every trip includes loving on the kids and families of San Matías.

Where?

Honduras is located in Central America and is blessed with natural riches and kind people.

About 45 minutes from the capital city of Tegucigalpa, there is a community called San Matías, surrounded by sixteen villages, nestled into an area often referred to as The Mountain.

Why and how?

Most of the population here lives in extreme poverty. MDM Honduras exists to bring transformation to these communities through God’s Word and practical training and acts to improve life today and build a better future.

Our activities cover 4 key areas that affect all stages of life in the San Matias area:

large gathering of school children outside the school house

Education

The Mountain of Blessings Sponsorship/Afterschool Program provides means for children and at-risk youth to overcome financial and academic barriers to their formal education.

What’s my part?

When you come here as a short-term missionary, you get to participate in that ongoing work. Adding another puzzle piece to the larger puzzle.

You’ll also first-hand see how the local people live, interact with them and understand the meaning and scope of MDM’s ongoing work in these communities.

During your stay, you’ll participate hands-on in one or more projects and get to see the difference you help make.

We are sure that your coming to Honduras will be a blessing to many children and familes, as well as bring blessings back to you.

What are those projects like?

Mission trip projects are tailored to the current needs of the community and so no two mission trips are the same.

  • Community Outreach: visiting local families, praying for and with them, and delivering food baskets.
  • Housing: building a house, pouring concrete floors, replacing roofs.
  • Clean water: setting up and distributing water filters.
  • Skill workshops: Training locals in handcrafts, entrepreneurship, sales, business development.
  • Education: Teaching opportunities, crafts and games with the students.
  • Sharing the Gospel: Spiritual gatherings and prayer times.

Good to know

Once we receive and review your interest form, we’ll contact you and start the conversation.

That process will include selecting dates for the trip and submitting a series of forms with required information.

Mission trip forms and information

It will be up to each mission trip participant to arrange their own travel and insurance.

Once you or the team arrive in Honduras, we’ll arrange ground transportation. MDM Honduras also arranges accommodations for all team participants. You’ll get daily transportation from the lodge to the operations center and project locations on the mountain and back.
